Our Founder, Robert Gamboa
Robert
J. Gamboa
started
doing body and paint work at the age of 15 in Bakersfield, CA.
He
moved to Sacramento in 1961 and went to work for John Drew Dodge.
He worked there until 1964 and completed his union apprenticeship as an
autobody and paint technician. Robert worked at John Geer
Chevrolet from 1964 to 1967, where was promoted to paint shop foreman.
In 1967, he was recruited by Gene Pleau, the owner of Downtown Ford,
to manage the dealership's body shop. It was here that he learned
some of the finer points of business management, which he would later
apply to his own business. In December 1971, Robert decided to go
into business for himself and opened the first Gamboa's Body and Frame at
1621 K Street in downtown Sacramento. |
